A heavenly hummus dip

Hummus and spinach and feta dips

Hummus is not only delicious and sustaining, it’s also incredibly simple, easy and cheap to make. In fact, once you make it for yourself you’ll never buy the pre-packaged version from a shop again!

Hummus is high in protein and makes a great snack in between meals or as an appetizer. It is often served as a dip with crackers or raw vegetables such as carrot, capsicum and celery, but I I often use it as an accompaniment to lamb dishes and it goes beautifully with most Mediterranean and Middle-Eastern foods. Here is the simplest and most delicious hummus recipe!

Hummus dip and spinach and feta dip

My two favourite dips – hummus and spinach and feta! I make these almost weekly. They’re also a great healthy snack to take camping!


  • 400 gm tin of chickpeas (drained and rinsed)
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 4 tablespoons of tahini
  • 4 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon of paprika or cumin


Combine all ingredients in a food processor and blend until smooth. That’s it!
